Quoting Kevin Roose (NYT / Hard Fork)
I'm not going to listen to opinions about AI from people who don't use AI.
I’ve been a vegetarian my whole adult life. You shouldn’t ask my opinion about Texas brisket versus North Carolina BBQ. I enjoy rolling around on the mat at my local BJJ gym after a stressful day at work. I’m not going to ask for your opinions on RNC escapes if you’ve never donned a gi.
I’ve been a long time listener to the New York Times Hard Fork podcast with Kevin Roose and Casey Newton. In today’s episode Kevin offered some great life advice:
“I’m not going to listen to opinions about AI from people who don’t use AI.“
With few exceptions, my social media and RSS feeds are dominated by two poles: (1) completely AI-pilled techno-optimists who buy and boost all the hype, and (2) those preaching that AI is good for nothing, destroying the planet, making us all dumber, totally useless, and might well destroy us all. They’re both wrong.
